If you've spent any time around Portland, Tennessee, chances are you've met Madison "Punchy" Cook—or at the very least, you've seen her contagious smile.
Whether she's covering city happenings for The Portland Sun, greeting visitors at the Portland Chamber of Commerce, cheering on local businesses through Stay Positive News, or supporting families navigating Alzheimer's and dementia, Madison has a heart for people and a passion for her hometown.
As a writer and reporter for The Portland Sun, Madison tells the stories that shape the community. Some assignments are exciting community events, while others involve long city council or planning commission meetings—but she approaches each one knowing local journalism helps keep neighbors informed and connected.

This summer, Madison stepped into another exciting role as Administrative Assistant for the Portland Chamber of Commerce. Since beginning on June 8, she's embraced the opportunity with gratitude and enthusiasm.
The Chamber shared what many in the community already know:
"Her positive attitude, infectious energy, and love of Portland make her a perfect fit for our Chamber family."
That same heart for serving others extends beyond her career.
Madison is an active supporter of the Haven Group, an organization that walks alongside families facing Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. It's a cause close to her heart, and one she's proud to support as she encourages and uplifts others through difficult seasons.

Closer to home, Madison has been married for six years to her high school sweetheart, Isaac Cook. Their story began when they were just teenagers, dating since Madison was 15 years old in 2013—a reminder that some of life's sweetest stories really do stand the test of time.

Their little family also includes Duncan, their beloved tuxedo cat, who proudly holds the title of full-time household supervisor.

Many readers also recognize Madison as one of Stay Positive News' enthusiastic Brand Ambassadors, helping spread the mission of sharing the good happening across Middle Tennessee.

What stands out most about Madison isn't a single title on her résumé—it's the joy she brings to each role she fills. Whether she's writing a story, welcoming someone through the Chamber doors, supporting a local nonprofit, or simply celebrating the people around her, she leads with kindness and genuine excitement for her community.
Portland is fortunate to have someone who believes every community deserves to have its stories told—and even more fortunate to have someone who lives out those stories every day.
Editor's Note: Stay Positive News exists to shine the spotlight on the positive stories happening in our communities. We are thrilled to shine the spotlight on an individual who not only joined us in that mission, but has been carrying it out her whole life. Thank you, Punchy.
