Giving Back: How Payne Chevrolet Prioritizes Investing into the Community

Throughout its nearly century-long presence in the Springfield community, Payne Chevrolet has established itself as more than just a dealership for cars, trucks, and SUVs. Embracing a philanthropic ethos passed down through generations, the Payne family has consistently prioritized giving back to the community in meaningful ways.

Alex Payne, the fourth-generation owner and current Vice President, ebodies this ethos by emphasizing the significance of providing for others. He states, “Providing for others is immensely more satisfying than just creating wealth for oneself.”

The dealership's impact extends across various facets of community life. They support every school in the county, collaborate with the Kiwanis Club of Springfield for an annual toy drive, partner with the YMCA for events and sports equipment provision, bolster 4-H programs in Robertson County, and recently began aiding Shine Pediatric Therapy's Springfield Buddies baseball program for children with special needs.

“Honestly there are too many other programs in the community that we help out with throughout the year to name,” Alex says lightheartedly.

Beyond helping other local existing organizations, events, and leagues, Payne Chevrolet prides itself on hosting a community event of its own: the ever famous Trucks and Treats night to celebrate Halloween. This event has been known to bring thousands of trick or treaters and their families to their dealership on Memorial Boulevard in Springfield in pursuit of candy and community since 2017 (excluding the year 2020 for COVID).

“We bring in 30+ community vendors and individuals to decorate trucks and pass out candy to all the kids so they can have a safe environment to trick-or-treat in,” says Alex. “It’s a lot of fun!”

Beyond giving back, Alex notes that they take this same mentality and apply it towards recognizing their hardworking employees. “If (Payne Chevrolet) (is) profitable, then we believe in giving back to the ones that made our company so successful. Our employees are top-notch, and we do our best to honor their effort at work by rewarding them with competitive wages, incentive programs, and year-end profit sharing.”

As Payne Chevrolet continues to weave itself into the fabric of the Springfield community, its legacy of generosity remains steadfast. In the words of Winston Churchill, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” And Payne Chevrolet is indeed making lives richer through its unwavering dedication to serving others.
