Teacher Thanks TriStar Hendersonville for Outstanding Care During Emergency Visit

HENDERSONVILLE, TN (May 20, 2024) – Janet DeSha, a social studies teacher in Nashville, is grateful after a recent four-day stay at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center. DeSha says physicians, nurses and colleagues created an exemplary experience, alleviating her anxiety with respect and nurturing care through her entire visit.

Janet arrived at TriStar Hendersonville after visiting a clinic. She had been feeling strange and was very weak and pale with headaches and itching. Even her students were concerned for her health. At the clinic, they did bloodwork and discovered her hemoglobin was significantly low and referred her directly to the emergency room. When Janet arrived at our emergency room, they immediately called her back where they began a blood transfusion and admitted her to the medical/surgical floor. Over the next few days, Janet had two procedures under the care of Dr. Randy Howard, a gastroenterologist at the hospital.

“My experience at TriStar Hendersonville was truly exceptional,” said Janet.  “From the moment I arrived in the ER to my stay in the medical/surgical unit, the staff were nurturing, caring and heart-felt. Lisa and Kat in the ER calmed my fears and made a difficult stick the quickest ever. Jesse on the floor gets the outstanding care award, and the staff in the operating room, as well as Dr. Howard, were outstanding. They made me feel like I was their only patient. Every request was honored, and I was treated like a human being with respect and care. It didn’t feel like they were doing a job, they were fulfilling a calling.

In addition to the outstanding medical care she received, Janet also commented that the quality of the food provided was the best she has ever experienced. The environmental services team meticulously cleaned her room. From beginning to end, the care transitions were thorough, and she felt she was a part of the care team, knowing the next steps even at discharge.

“Superior care is 10 minutes from my house,” said Janet. “Everyone was respectful, attentive and showed up for me at a very scary time. I knew I was receiving the best care that I possibly could, and if anyone needs the best care, TriStar Hendersonville is the place to go.”
