If big hair, rhinestones, pink drinks, good food, and a little Dolly Parton sound like your kind of Friday, Springfield has a celebration planned just for you.

On Friday, September 25, Common Thread is inviting the community to celebrate Dolly’s life and legacy with Dolly Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

But Dolly Day is about more than just celebrating one of Tennessee’s most beloved icons.

Carianne Koshack of Dreamweaver Balloons and Thrive Hub says Common Thread is simply a group of local women who love their community and believe in connecting people, supporting small businesses, and finding ways to give back when there’s a need.

“When we learned about the funding gap for the Robertson County Imagination Library, Dolly Day felt like the perfect way to bring all of those things together,” Koshack said. “Celebrate Dolly, support our local businesses, have some FUN, and hopefully make a difference for our local kids at the same time.”

And there will be plenty of ways to do exactly that.

Public House is creating a special Dolly Day menu, while Historic Perk, Lively Nutrition, and Bake n’ Soda are preparing specialty drinks, treats, and flavors for the occasion.

The Soap Factory is adding colorful Dolly-inspired soaps, while Inked By Kiley will be inside offering Dolly-inspired flash tattoos for those looking for a more permanent souvenir.

Shopping comes with plenty of sparkle and plenty of ways to give back to the community too.

Creations by Cris has special-edition Dolly Day in Springfield shirts and caps, with a portion of orders benefiting the local fund.

The giving has extended beyond participating businesses too. Margot Hornsby Fosnes purchased one of the special-edition Dolly Day shirts and donated it back for a community giveaway to help spread the word about the event and its mission.

Maison De Reve will feature Dolly-themed merchandise and donate 10% of its Dolly Day sales.

Rage Designs, The Creative Collective is bringing Dolly paintings and prints, with every dollar from those sales going directly to the Robertson County Imagination Library. (Carly Rage is the one to thank for the colorful graphics surrounding this event too!)

Studio 24 Salon is getting in on the big hair portion of the celebration too, with Brandy matching purchases of hair essentials with a donation to the local Imagination Library.

Jeanine Clark of Joy Spark, located inside Pappy’s Knives & Antiques, will debut a special collection of butterfly jewelry, donate 25% of all jewelry sales to the Robertson County Imagination Library, and offer 10% off her entire booth.

Hometown Thrift Co. is putting its own spin on the celebration by giving a free book with every purchase made that day.

Those looking for a little self-care can start Dolly Day early at SKINriched. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., 10% of all in-store retail sales will be donated to the Robertson County Imagination Library.

Of course, you cannot celebrate Dolly without a little music.

Frannie Bryson, an instructor at Springfield Guitar Company, will be picking Dolly classics on the sidewalk as people make their way around Springfield.

The celebration also moves to the big screen as Springfield's Capitol Theatre shows Steel Magnolias at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The 1 p.m. showing is being offered for $10.99, and Dolly Day transactions will help support the Robertson County Imagination Library fund.

Tracy Richards Woodside of First Truist Home Loans and Southern Roots Properties are partnering with the theatre to give the first 35 ticket transactions a free refillable popcorn bucket, a $25 value that can continue to be used after Dolly Day.

RE/MAX First Choice is turning its stop into a full Dolly Day experience with Bake n’ Soda, a Dolly-inspired photo booth, and possibly even a Dolly impersonator.

The Hot Spot Springfield is giving guests the chance to create their own Dolly Day keepsake while saving 9.25% on their creations all day, with butterfly and Dolly-inspired pottery among the options.

What makes the day especially unique is that it is not confined to one room or one storefront.

The idea is to experience Springfield.

Eat.

Shop.

Listen to the music.

Take the pictures.

Sing along.

Support the businesses that make the community unique.

Koshack encourages the community to follow Common Thread - Robertson County for updates as participating businesses continue sharing what they have planned.
