A Sweet Way to Say “Thank You” to Teachers

For many, cooking is simply a daily task. For Connie Worley, it has become a way to pour gratitude back into the people shaping the next generation.

The local realtor with 615 Real Estate Advisors has made it her mission to host monthly teacher appreciation lunches for the staff at H.B. Williams Elementary School — combining her love for cooking with her passion for supporting educators.

Worley says the inspiration came from watching teachers go far beyond the classroom each day.

“They are not only educators, but also counselors, mentors, and steady sources of support for their students,” she shared. “They care for each child as if they were their own.”

For Worley, the mission is deeply personal.

Her two sons attended H.B. Williams, where she says their teachers provided far more than academics. They offered encouragement, laughter, love, and support through every season of childhood.

“I felt called to create a way to celebrate these incredible individuals and show them how valued and appreciated they truly are,” she said.

While the lunches may look effortless when teachers arrive to enjoy a meal together, Worley says each event takes plenty of planning and teamwork behind the scenes. Alongside three sponsors, she partners with local restaurants to help feed approximately 75 teachers each month.

But the desserts? Those are all Connie.

From cookies to cakes and homemade sweets, she spends days preparing treats that add a personal touch to each lunch.

“It’s my personal way of adding something special to the day,” she said.

Over time, the heartfelt reactions from teachers have only strengthened her commitment to the project.

“They are always so grateful,” Worley said. “It’s incredibly moving to know that something as simple as a lunch can make them feel valued and encouraged.”

As a realtor, Worley believes supporting schools is one of the most meaningful ways to invest in the future of a community.

“Our children are the future,” she said. “When we support our teachers, we are ultimately supporting our children.”

She hopes others who want to give back will realize they do not have to start with something large or elaborate.

“Just start,” she encouraged. “It doesn’t have to be complicated—just consistent.”

For Worley, a meal may last only a lunch break, but the message behind it lingers much longer: the people shaping young lives deserve to feel appreciated, too.
