The Springfield police and fire departments, along with other local law enforcement agencies, are partnering with Blood Assurance to host a community blood drive in honor of the lives lost and heroes who responded on September 11, 2001.
The Battle of the Badges Blood Drive will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Center, located at 401 North Main Street.
Community members who are eligible to donate are encouraged to schedule an appointment at www.bloodassurance.org/springfieldrobertson. Walk-ins are welcome, though appointments are preferred.
All blood donations will stay local, directly benefiting patients in Robertson County. A single blood donation can save up to three lives.
“Every year people ask us how they can honor first responders on 9/11. This year we’re asking you to do something different that saves lives: donate blood,” said Springfield Police Chief Jason Head. “Donating blood is a meaningful way to honor the service, sacrifice, and courage that 9/11 represents.”
This year’s drive includes a friendly competition between first responder agencies. Donors will cast a vote for their favorite local police or fire department when they give blood, and the winning agency will receive a special award.
In addition, all donors will receive an exclusive “Remember and Honor” September 11 T-shirt as a thank-you.
The Battle of the Badges Blood Drive is a partnership between Springfield and Robertson County first responders and Blood Assurance, the primary blood supplier for most hospitals across Middle Tennessee.
