Morgan on the Rim Civil War Reenactment Returns to Ridgetop October 23–25

History will come to life in Middle Tennessee this October as the Morgan on the Rim Civil War Reenactment returns October 23–25, 2026, at Ridgetop Station Park in Ridgetop.

The three-day event, themed around the Battle at Dead Horse Trestle, invites families and history enthusiasts to experience the sights, sounds, and stories of the Civil War through living history demonstrations, educational programs, and reenactments.

Visitors can explore Civil War medicine, period music performed by the 52nd Regimental String Band, infantry and artillery demonstrations, historical displays, and battle reenactments. The event will also feature a Civil War-era wedding experience, highlighting the traditions and ceremonies of 1862.

Friday, October 23, is designated as School Day, with free admission for all students from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Interactive living history programs will take place throughout the park.

Saturday’s activities include a ladies’ tea, military demonstrations, the first battle reenactment at 2 p.m., and a flag retirement ceremony performed by the Music City Young Marines. An authentic 1862 Civil War wedding will also be part of the weekend’s programming.

On Sunday, visitors can attend a church service at 10 a.m., followed by additional demonstrations and the second battle reenactment at 2 p.m.

Adding a unique perspective to the experience, Morgan on the Rim will also feature hot-air balloon tethered rides on October 24 and 25, weather and operational conditions permitting. Historians Steve and Patrice DeMory will portray Thaddeus and Leontine Lowe, sharing the story of the balloon corps and its role during the Civil War.

Whether you love local history, enjoy hands-on learning, or are looking for a unique family outing, Morgan on the Rim offers an opportunity to connect with the past and experience history in a whole new way.
