Springfield Gas Department Awards $18,000 in Scholarships to Six Robertson County Students

Six Robertson County students were each awarded $6,000 toward their college tuition during the June 16, 2026, Springfield Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting.

The City of Springfield has awarded the Springfield Gas Department Scholarship to Robertson County students since 2012.

"The Springfield Gas Department is proud to support our local students through our scholarship program. It is one way we give back to our community, and we are proud to continue this effort in 2026," said Gas Department Director Benji Davis. "We hope these scholarships will help further the education of our selected winners. We are excited to see where life takes them and hope that this scholarship will ultimately assist in achieving their life goals."

The following scholarship recipients were recognized during the meeting:

  • Jaidon Hurst, a graduate of Springfield High School, will attend the College of Wooster and major in Criminal Justice.
  • Lachlan Michie, a graduate of East Robertson High School, will attend the University of Tennessee–Knoxville and major in Biomedical Engineering.

  • Trevor Steinbrook, a graduate of South Haven Christian School, will attend Pensacola Christian College and major in Youth Ministries.
  • Lily Holleman, a graduate of Greenbrier High School, will attend Austin Peay State University and major in Youth Sciences.
  • Ella Resha, a graduate of Jo Byrns High School, will attend Austin Peay State University and major in History.
  • Daniel Burnett, a graduate of Innovation Academy, will attend Middle Tennessee State University and major in Forensic Science.
