When I started Krislyn’s Kiddos & Furry Friends on October 27, 2018, I was a teenager with a big heart, a lot of dreams, and no idea where this adventure would take me. I had just come out of a car accident that left me recovering on the couch for three months with a broken back.
During that slow season, I had plenty of time to think about what I truly wanted my future to look like. I was working at The Porch and Grill, a local restaurant owned by the Berry family, but my heart had always been drawn to caring for children.
All through school, from kindergarten to senior year, I believed I would become a teacher. I loved helping kids learn and grow, and I lived for those light-bulb moments. But as my small side job of babysitting began to grow into something more, I stood at a crossroads I’ll never forget: choosing between my childhood dream of teaching and a new dream—owning my own business.
It was scary at the time. I worried about letting myself down or choosing wrong. But deep down, I felt confident in the little business I had started, the support of my family, and the reassurance that dreams can evolve. Seven years later, I thank myself every day for taking that leap. I didn’t let childhood Krislyn down—I showed her that life is full of possibilities.
One of my favorite things now is telling kids my story and seeing their reactions when I explain my job. “You get to travel with families? You get to see horses, tarantulas, chickens, and puppies?” My answer is always, “Yes, yes, yes!” It truly is a dream job, and I love showing children that they can create their own opportunities, too.
As my business grew, families noticed I connected not just with their kids but also their pets. That’s when Krislyn’s Kiddos & Furry Friends officially got its name. Over time, I began traveling with families, learning their routines, and becoming part of their lives in ways I never expected.
When COVID hit during my senior year, everything shifted. College went virtual, and many of “my kiddos” needed help at home with schoolwork. I began tutoring, which allowed me to use the teaching skills I once thought would be classroom-bound.
As families continued trusting me, new opportunities opened naturally. They saw how much I enjoyed organizing and tidying, which inspired me to add Home Helper services. My love for community grew, too—I joined the White House Chamber of Commerce and started hosting creative retreats and children’s events. One of the most meaningful full-circle moments has been partnering with my former teacher, Tracy Dever, who also transitioned into entrepreneurship. Together, we host retreats that encourage creativity, connection, and growth.
Today, Krislyn’s Kiddos & Furry Friends is a thriving five-star local business with a wonderful part-time team member, Malaina. This year, I was honored to be named the White House Chamber of Commerce 2025 Woman of the Year. I proudly serve as a member and ambassador for both the White House and Robertson County Chambers, as well as Partner Development Coordinator and Ambassador for Stay Positive News.
Beyond my business, I stay involved through Isaiah 117 House, Creative Memories, Mary Kay, and my community-focused Facebook page, White House Positivity. I’m even an ordained wedding minister!
Through every role, my mission remains the same: to serve with heart, positivity, and connection. I’m endlessly grateful for the families who trust me and the community that continues to cheer me on.
