A Special Delivery: Air Evac Grandfather Meets Newborn Great-Grandson

On June 9, Aubree welcomed Kaysen Wimberly, who was born weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce and measuring 20 inches. He entered the world surrounded by family ready to meet him, including his great-grandfather, Mark Daniels, base pilot supervisor for Air Evac, who happened to be on duty that day.

Mark was on a flight when Kaysen was born. When he learned that his granddaughter was giving birth, he requested they land so he could meet the newest member of his family. The team didn’t hesitate.

As remarkable as the moment was, it was not the first time Mark had made a special landing for Aubree. Two years earlier, Aubree chose TriStar NorthCrest for the birth of her first child, Kamden. Mark was able to land then, too, to meet his first great-grandchild.

“He will not miss work so to be able to land and see me was such a special moment,” Aubree said. “And what a unique way to see his great-grandchildren come into the world.”

Although Aubree lives in Clarksville, the care she received during her first pregnancy brought her back to Springfield. Throughout her pregnancy with Kaysen, she traveled 45 minutes up to three times a week for appointments.

“This was the place I had to be,” Aubree said. “The reason is simple, the people.”

The women’s services team made TriStar NorthCrest feel like home from the start of her pregnancy through delivery.

“I was relieved that after delivering my first child here, there were still familiar faces,” Aubree said. “That was just exciting to see.”

Patient-centered care is about more than healing a wound or prescribing medication. It means building trust, showing up for families and creating moments that matter. For Aubree, Mark and their family, that care helped create memories they will carry for a lifetime.

Aubree shared a special thanks to Nan Elridge, Lead Certified Surgical First Assistant for Labor and Delivery, and Michaela Stone, RN Resident, Labor and Delivery, for the impact they made on her experience.

“My care has been amazing here,” Aubree said. “I would choose TriStar NorthCrest every time.”
