White House neighbors are coming together this season with a mission that’s both simple and heartfelt — making sure no one in our community goes hungry or feels forgotten.
Running from October 27 through November 27, 2025, the Community Canned Food Drive is collecting non-perishable donations to restock local Blessing Boxes and help families facing food insecurity.
Donations can be dropped off Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 3 PM at:
Requested items include canned meats, vegetables, fruits, soups, peanut butter, pasta, and rice — all staples that make a meaningful difference for families in need.
Organizer Jennifer Groves says the drive was inspired by what she’s seen firsthand.
“I see the Blessing Boxes being used as I fill them,” she shared. “The need is there. I think there’s a gap in our community that hasn’t been filled — especially if SNAP benefits continue to change.”

In addition to the month-long collection, the group is hosting a Free Spaghetti Dinner on November 5 at Cherry Mound Baptist Church from 5:30 – 7:30 PM (dine-in or take-home while supplies last). Organizers hope to serve about 125 meals, offering both food and fellowship to anyone who could use a warm meal and friendly conversation.
Jennifer and volunteers are also using this effort to identify and assist elderly residents and shut-ins who may not be active on social media or able to access the Blessing Boxes.
“Being alone is hard,” Jennifer said. “Sometimes, just knowing that someone’s there can make all the difference — it could even save a life. We’re trying to be more present.”
For those who know of an elderly or disabled neighbor who could use food delivered directly, contact Jennifer Groves or Kellye White to provide names and addresses.
Together, White House is proving that a little kindness — and maybe a can or two — can go a long way.
