My Experience as a CASA Volunteer

By Betty of Robertson County, TN

When you’re searching for a way to give back, sometimes the right opportunity finds you. For me, that moment came when I discovered CASA—Court Appointed Special Advocates—and realized I could stand alongside children facing some of life’s hardest circumstances. Supporting children through adversity has always been close to my heart, and becoming a CASA volunteer gave me a meaningful way to turn that passion into action right here in our community.

Serving as a CASA volunteer allows me to give back while making a real, lasting impact on the lives of children who need consistency, compassion, and someone firmly in their corner.

Becoming a CASA volunteer has allowed me to build strong, trusting bonds with children by providing steady support as they navigate the trauma and uncertainty of foster care. Showing up, listening, and being a familiar presence can make a powerful difference during such a vulnerable time in a child’s life.

As a CASA volunteer, I feel respected by the judicial system and truly supported by the CASA staff. I look forward to our monthly meetings, where I can connect with fellow volunteers and learn from their experiences. I’ve been especially inspired by the diversity within our group—lawyers, business leaders, foster parents, retirees, and people from all walks of life—each united by a shared desire to improve the lives of the most vulnerable children in Robertson County.

For me, the most significant benefit of volunteering is the sense of fulfillment it brings. Knowing I can make a difference, even in small ways, is incredibly meaningful. I pray that the relationships I’m building with these children and within this organization continue to grow and positively shape our lives for years to come.

If you’ve ever felt a tug on your heart to support children in need, I encourage you to learn more about CASA in Robertson County. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word, your involvement could change a child’s story—and strengthen our community along the way.
