Big moments often start with quiet dedication—and for two local students, that dedication just paid off in a big way.
Students from South Haven Christian School recently traveled to compete in the 48th annual American Association of Christian Schools National Competition, held at Bob Jones University. The event brought together nearly 1,900 students from 33 states—all of whom had already earned top honors at the state level.
Among them were two students from our own community who made their mark in standout ways.
For Nathan Foster of Springfield, excellence has become a pattern. Nathan earned first place in Woodworking and Cabinetmaking, marking his third consecutive year winning at the national level. It’s an incredible accomplishment that reflects not only his craftsmanship, but also his commitment to honing his skills year after year.

Brenleigh Sutek of Pleasant View also represented Middle Tennessee with pride, earning second place in Home Economics academic testing. Her achievement highlights the dedication it takes to excel academically on a national stage—and the confidence to step into that challenge.

The competition itself spans a wide range of categories, from academics and science to music, speech, and the arts. But beyond the awards, it’s the experience that leaves a lasting impact—building discipline, creativity, and character along the way.
For South Haven Christian School, a school that has been investing in students since 1986, moments like this are a reflection of something deeper: students being equipped not just to succeed, but to grow into who they’re called to be.
And for our community, it’s a reminder that some of the brightest stories are unfolding right here at home.
