Communities that play together stay together.
White House, get ready to grow stronger—together. This past Monday evening, the City’s Parks & Recreation Department unveiled a brand-new community center designed to bring people of all ages under one roof for fun, fitness, and connection.
Spanning over 68,000 square feet, the new facility includes two full-sized basketball courts, two volleyball courts, locker rooms, a weight room, a fitness studio, a concessionaire, a game room, and an elevated walking track that circles above the main gym. It also features an auxiliary gym that can be configured for half-court basketball, two pickleball courts, or a volleyball court. Two spacious multi-purpose meeting rooms round out the offerings.
“This project dives us into a whole new world we haven’t been able to enter in the past,” says Selena Clouse, Assistant Parks & Recreation Director. “It allows us to expand our youth and adult programming. We’re excited to serve the community better and give everyone more opportunities to enjoy their city and each other.”
From group aerobics to weightlifting, gaming to court sports, or simply cheering from the bleachers—there’s something for everyone. And when hunger strikes, there’s no need to leave the fun behind. Parks and Rec has partnered with a local business to launch the White House Snack Shack, a convenient on-site eatery ready to refuel visitors without losing your hard-earned parking spot.
While residents have seen the building go up over the past few years, the dream of this space has been more than a decade in the making. Designed to welcome both locals and those driving in from surrounding counties, the center is built with ample room for activity—and for parking. With 200 asphalt spaces, you won’t need to circle the lot to find your place.
“Recreation and play is a universal language,” adds Selena. “It gives us the opportunity to grow and learn in fun and engaging ways that jobs and school often don’t.”
So, let’s speak that same language.
Let’s show up and play, White House.
