The Sumner County D.A.R.E. Talent Show is about much more than raising funds.

It's an opportunity to bring our community together while supporting programs that help young people grow into confident, responsible adults.

As a School Resource Officer and D.A.R.E. instructor, I have the privilege of working with students every day. I see firsthand the positive impact that encouragement, guidance, and meaningful opportunities can have on a young person's life.

Through D.A.R.E., I've watched students build confidence, develop leadership skills, and make better decisions both inside and outside the classroom. Those moments remind me why this program is so important.

For me, this mission is personal.

Growing up, I faced challenges that could have easily led me down a different path. Because of those experiences, I understand how important it is for young people to have positive role models, supportive communities, and opportunities to feel seen, valued, and connected.

That's one of the biggest reasons I'm passionate about investing in the next generation.

The Sumner County D.A.R.E. Talent Show gives people of all ages a chance to showcase their gifts while bringing together families, schools, local businesses, and community members for a shared purpose. It's a celebration of talent, but it's also an opportunity for young people to gain confidence, get involved, and experience the power of community support.

The event is open to anyone who lives in Sumner County and has a talent they'd like to share. Whether you sing, dance, play an instrument, perform comedy, amaze audiences with magic, or have another unique skill, we'd love to see you participate.

Applications are $10 and require a video submission showcasing your talent. The application deadline is July 18.

After submissions close, a panel of judges will select the top 25 acts to perform live during the Sumner County D.A.R.E. Talent Show on August 8 at Hendersonville High School.

That evening will showcase incredible local talent while helping support Sumner County D.A.R.E.'s mission of educating and empowering youth and strengthening our community.

I firmly believe strong communities are built when people choose to support one another.

When we invest in our youth, we're investing in a safer, stronger, and brighter future for everyone.

Our goal isn't simply to host a talent show. It's to create an event that inspires, encourages, and unites our community while helping young people discover their potential and make positive choices.
